Our company is physically operated from a studio located on the Thames River in Kent Bridge, Ontario, Canada. We are represented online as www.stoneturtlestudio.com

Stone Turtle Studio is a working lapidary and silversmithing studio based in Chatham, Ontario. We create handcrafted gemstone jewelry, cut and polish our own stones, and offer a changing collection of mineral specimens gathered from across Ontario and beyond.

Every piece begins with the stone. Some are collected during our own rockhounding trips, while others are carefully selected for their colour, pattern, character, and natural beauty. From there, the stone is cut, shaped, polished, and transformed into a finished piece of jewelry in our studio.

Our work includes sterling silver rings, pendants, bracelets, necklaces, cabochons, polished stones, raw mineral specimens, and one-of-a-kind designs. Because we work directly with natural materials, no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

From Rough Stone to Finished Jewelry

Stone Turtle Studio handles much of the creative process in-house.

We begin with rough stone and study its natural pattern, colour, and structure before deciding how it should be cut. Each stone is shaped and polished individually, then paired with a setting or design that complements it.

Some pieces remain simple and natural. Others are set in sterling silver and finished as rings, pendants, bracelets, or custom jewelry. Our goal is to preserve the character of the original stone while creating something durable, wearable, and distinctive.

Meet the Artist

Stone Turtle Studio is operated by Bill Arbour, a lapidary artist and silversmith based in Southern Ontario.

Bill works directly with the materials from the earliest stages of cutting and shaping through to polishing, setting, and final finishing. His work is influenced by the natural landscapes where the stones are found and by the individual character of each specimen.

The studio continues to expand into new areas, including vintage watch restoration, gemstone cutting, custom silverwork, and unique market collections.

Markets and Events

Stone Turtle Studio travels throughout Southern Ontario during the market season.

Regular and rotating locations include:

  • Kincardine Market
  • Keady Market
  • St. Jacobs Market
  • Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market
  • Pinery Market in Grand Bend

Other seasonal markets, live sales, and special events

Visit Us Online or In Person

Our online collection offers a selection of available jewelry and specimens, but many pieces are introduced first at markets or through live sales.

Visit us in person to see the full range of stones, jewelry, minerals, watches, and new work. You can also follow along online to see rough material being cut, new pieces being created, and upcoming market schedules.

The Stone Turtle Approach

We believe natural stone should retain its individuality.

Rather than forcing every piece into the same style, we allow the material to guide the design. Colour, texture, inclusions, shape, and history all become part of the finished piece.

Stone Turtle Studio is built around craftsmanship, curiosity, and the process of turning natural material into something that can be collected, worn, and enjoyed for years.
